Tradesy Image Privacy
& Compliance Audit
Tradesy is on our 2026 audit roadmap. We're collecting listings to measure GPS coordinate exposure, camera fingerprinting rates, and compression efficiency. Results will be published here when ready.
Why EXIF metadata matters
Photos taken on smartphones embed GPS coordinates, camera make/model, and timestamps directly into the image file. When marketplaces serve these unprocessed, sellers unintentionally expose their home address and device fingerprint to anyone who downloads the image.
| Risk | Without processing | With Filtrate |
|---|---|---|
| GPS home address exposure | ✗ Embedded in every smartphone photo | ✓ Stripped on ingest |
| Camera device fingerprint | ✗ Make, model, serial in EXIF | ✓ All EXIF metadata removed |
| Image file bloat | ✗ Uncompressed JPEGs inflate CDN costs | ✓ Converted to WebP, typically 40–70% smaller |
| Content moderation | ✗ Manual or none | ✓ AI verdict per image, same API call |
